Statement of Faith
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, written by human authors who were divinely guided by the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters about which it speaks.
The Trinity
We believe that God exists in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each completely and fully God.
God the Father
We believe the Father is fully God, who is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. God is eternal and is the Creator of all things.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is the Son of God, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He is fully God and fully man-one person in two natures. He is our High Priest and Advocate. He lived a sinless life and was crucified to atone for the sins of man. He was raised from the dead and ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to claim His own.
Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Counselor promised to us by Jesus. He has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ. He convicts the world of its guilt and draws sinners to Christ. It is through the Holy Spirit that we are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God.
Salvation
We believe salvation is God's gracious gift, offered to all people, which we must accept. We cannot achieve salvation by self-improvement or by works. It is through trusting in Jesus and realizing and accepting our need for Him as Savior that we are given Grace by God and eternal life.
Christian Living
We believe God calls us to love Him supremely and to love others sacrificially. We are to live out our faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. The Christian Life is a process of cooperating with God's sanctifying work in our lives by our faith and obedience to Christ and deepening our relationship with Him. It is God's will that we continually grow over the course of our lives until we get to heaven and then are made perfect in Christ. Progressively Maturing into a Christ-like life is expected by God and experienced by us as we learn to abide in Him through fellowship with Him. He abides in us and communicates to us through the Bible, prayer, fellowship with other Christ followers, and through individual and corporate worship. This is how we learn to know and serve God and experience Him personally.
The Church
We believe that the Church is the family of God, the Body of Christ, and the temple of the Holy Spirit. It is comprised of all who have been justified by God's grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is the head of the Church. We believe that the Church is the primary instrument through which God is working in the world today. The Church is also where the family of God gathers together as demonstrated in Acts 2 and individuals are empowered into social action, justice, mercy and care for one another by the personal indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
